As caregivers, it’s important to remind ourselves that “we can’t compare the care.”

Each caregiving situation is far too unique and has far too many variables to ever know who has it the toughest.

We all have particular circumstances and combinations of resources that, depending on the day, can make our situation seem far better or far worse that someone else’s. Feeling guilty that you have it seemingly better than some folks do or feeling bitter that you have it seemingly worse than others do or feeling angry when another caregiver is complaining about something that seems trivial in light of what you are dealing with… dwelling on the thoughts that generate those feelings create huge drains on your mental energy.

One way to conserve your energy is to decide to have grace for yourself and what you are going through and grace for others and what they are going through and decide not to engage with comparing the care.

If this resonates with you, let me know.

The more mental energy you are able to conserve, the more you have available to use to stay connected to yourself and your goals while you give care.

Thank you for being one of the ones who care.
